Medicare Can Be Confusing

We are here to bridge the gap between you and a Medicare Provider, see below for some frequently asked questions.

Medicare is a federal health insurance program for individuals aged 65 and older, as well as certain younger people with disabilities or specific conditions.

You can enroll during your Initial Enrollment Period, which begins three months before you turn 65 and lasts for seven months.

You can also enroll during the Annual Enrollment Period or if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.

Medicare has four parts:

  • Part A covers hospital insurance.
  • Part B covers medical insurance.
  • Part C (Medicare Advantage) is a private plan that includes both Part A and Part B benefits, often with additional coverage.
  • Part D covers prescription drug plans.

Part A typically covers inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and some home health services.

Part B covers outpatient care, doctor visits, preventive services, and some home health care.

Original Medicare includes Part A and Part B and allows you to see any doctor who accepts Medicare. Medicare Advantage plans, offered by private companies, bundle Part A and Part B coverage and may offer additional benefits like dental or vision coverage.

Costs vary depending on the part of Medicare. Part A is usually premium-free if you’ve paid Medicare taxes for a certain period. Part B has a monthly premium and out-of-pocket costs like deductibles and copayments.

Prescription drug coverage is provided through Part D plans, which are offered by private insurance companies. Coverage and costs vary by plan.

Yes, many people qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid, which can help cover costs that Medicare doesn’t.

If you miss your Initial Enrollment Period, you may have to wait for the General Enrollment Period (January 1 to March 31) and may face late enrollment penalties.
